White Trash

My family history on both sides has multiple threads of white trash in it. Some lines carried the redneck persona further than others. Most people living in this area today have claim on the great Mormon Pioneers who crossed the plains (pretty much Neil's entire family line on every facet) but oh no, not any of that on my line. My ancestry heralds cow thieves, illegitimate children, ignorant trailer trash, alcoholics, one grandmother who ran away with the dog catcher and the other grandmother buried with a case of beer and a picture of her dog. Ain't we proud! But seriously, we do joke about our family history a lot.

Moving on to a different point, but we'll come back to the white trash relatives . Neil recently got a call from a college professor trying to get rid of an old car. As a favor Neil bought a 1987 Crown Victoria (like the police car from Dukes of Hazard) for $50 bucks. Needs some TLC and Neil was hoping to make a couple hundred on it. I told him we should enter it in a demolition derby. How fun would that be! Ha Ha, but not really he said.

Last night we went to a demolition derby with some friends and family. Naturally the subject of entering the Crown Vic into a derby came up again. Neil doesn't like the idea of driving in one but thought it sounded fun to build the car into a derby car. So Powder Puff. We are seriously contemplating me driving in a demolition derby. On our way out we actually stopped and talked to a few guys who have done this a lot, got some good info and advice.

Neil's dilemma: he's not sure how he feels putting his wife in a demolition derby but on the other hand "you'd sure make some of your ancestors proud! I mean it fits in with all the other stories."

Bantering back and forth. Good idea, bad idea..... Should I add another chapter to the families book of white trash relatives or rise above and forget the whole thing?
